I just love this picture! |
In so many ways this past year has flown by and in others, it's been slow. I think about dad every day. You don't really realize the influence and all someone did for you until they are gone. There are times when I'm out and about and see things or people and they just remind me of dad. Or other times I wish I could call him. Of course, I wish he was here for mom. I see older couples and wonder why he had to go so early. I get 71 is older, but so many other couples get more time.
It makes me think that he must really be doing something good on the other side since he can't be here with us. I'm so thankful for him and the years he helped shape me into the person I am today. As I get older I'm beginning to realize how much our previous generations really do influence us. To where we live, they introduce us to their beliefs and morals, their habits can become ours good or bad, and many more. Dad lived a great life. Was he perfect, no. But, I'd say near the end he had overcome some pretty big hurdles and that example is what I'll remember. He loved Jesus Christ and he loved his gospel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He knew it was true because Jesus Christ and his gospel are the only way he would have overcome all that he did. I sure miss you, dad! I love you and can't wait til we meet again!
