Today while I was cleaning, I turned on an audiobook, then some music, then a podcast, and nothing caught my interest. This is very abnormal for me. I usually can’t decide what to listen to because of all of my options. I thought that maybe the spirit was trying to teach me something, so I decided to turn it all off and say a prayer while I cleaned. I prayed and asked if there was anyone I could serve today.
Soon after, I got a text from a friend. We were supposed to be getting together, but she wasn’t up for it today because her baby was having a rough day. She has some health problems and today was especially hard. After texting her, I wanted to do something to help lighten her load. I had the idea come to me to go grab a pizza and salad for her for dinner. While I was out, I realized another friend was finishing up her bachelor's degree this week, probably had a lot going on, and could use a night off from cooking dinner. I grabbed a couple of pizzas for her too. I dropped them by, and we had some great conversations.
It was a small gesture that may or may not have helped, but going out and doing that really helped me. The off feeling I’d been having was gone, and I had tons of energy to finish up what I needed to get done today. I made a goal about 10 years ago to go out of my way to serve someone every day. I haven’t been perfect but, I can’t count how many times this has happened since I made that goal. I know that each time I look outside myself and help others, I never know if it helps them much, but it makes my life better. Today I am thankful that when I pray for guidance and listen, I can help Heavenly Father answer prayers. He is so good to hear and answer my prayers, and I love that in a small way, I can help Him.
