Conrad's 9th Birthday

Conrad is now nine and he's growing up fast!  The kids were out of school for Spring Break for his birthday.  It worked out nice to have him home.  He was a bit bummed that he could be the birthday kid on his real birthday.  But, we had a fun day.

Conrad's favorite holiday is Easter because he loves dying eggs.  We ended up dying eggs after breakfast.  He wanted to go to the park in the afternoon.  The weather wasn't super nice, but nice enough if we wore coats we could endure the wind. ;)  Con really wanted to go to Leo's place to get pizza and play in the arcade.  We met up with my parents for dinner that night.  All of the kids had a blast and we had a fun time chatting with my parents.

Here he is opening some gifts:

 Here's what he got:

He wanted a "Chipper Jones" cake (no, he is not ten that's Chipper's number. :))
I had to get a picture of the inside just because I went to the effort of coloring his cake blue and red for the braves also.

It was a fun day!

At 9 Conrad loves

  • baseball
  • basketball
  • riding his bike and rip stick
  • fishing with Bo (which he got to do the Monday before his birthday as an early gift because the weather was best that day)
  • Playing Kinect Sports 1 & 2 on the xbox 360
  • playing with friends and his siblings
We love:

  • how he is always trying to make us laugh
  • how well he does in school
  • how he listens pretty well
  • he's responsible
  • that he will still give me hugs even in public
  • how his younger brothers look up to him
  • having him in our family
Happy Birthday!!!  We love you!!!

Basketball 2015

Hailey and Conrad played basketball this year.  It was fun to watch them get so excited for every game.  They played from the first of January to the end of February.

Here are some pics.  I'll put Hailey's first and then Conrad's.

Conrad's Third Grade Science Fair

Last Friday Conrad had his Science Fair.

I showed him a video on making sugar crystal candy because he loves candy and I thought he'd like to make it.  He did.  We all had a fun time watching them grow and Conrad said they were good.

The students got to present his project in class for parents and all the kids in their grade to see.  He had a really fun time showing off and sharing his treats.

He had so much fun, I couldn't get him to hold still for a picture!:)
They turned out really pretty!
I'm sure you can imagine all the time it takes find a project, do a project, make a presentation board, and teach them why it all works the way it does so they can explain it to others.  I have to say that I had a really bad attitude about this project.  Life is always crazy, but this month it's been especially crazy and I just didn't want this on top of it all.  But, after looking back on it while typing up this post, I can see that Conrad had a blast.  When I got to his school to check everything out he was super happy and having a great time.  I can be such a Debbie Downer sometimes!  ARGH!!!

Daddy Daughter Date

The Elder's Quorum planned a Daddy Daughter Date last Saturday.  It was cute to get Hailey ready.  We didn't have a lot of time because she had a basketball game just before.  But she was really excited to go on a date with Bo.  I got a quick pick just before they left.

Bo came home with painted fingernails (just two, and I had to laugh).  They had a yummy soup and salad dinner and played games.  They had a fun time together.

I took the boys and bought way more candy than I should have and rented a Lego movie and snuggled while we watched.  It was fun to just hang out with the boys.  I don't get to do that much.   They got to watch whatever they wanted and they liked that because they don't get to do that as often as they like.  Hailey is really good at showing them what they like to watch.

:)

Our First Pinewood Derby!

Ok, I didn't have a lot to do with making the car.  I did put decals on and modge podged the final coat, but Conrad and Bo spent a hours on it getting it just right.

They watched youtube videos, sanded and sanded and sanded the nails some more.  They sanded and put graphite in the wheels.  They fixed the wheels so it would drive on 3 (guess this makes it faster). Of course they painted it too.

Conrad was so excited and the competition was pretty steep.  He got 7th and we were pretty proud of that.  It was really fun to watch.  I think Brayden had more fun than anyone.  He yelled soooo loud every race and kept saying, "I love being here!"  So cute!

Oh and can I just say, the track has really been vamped up since we were kids.  It was hooked to cameras and a computer and showed us the speed after each race.  It was pretty cool.
