Spring Break 2019

We went to St. George again this year for our break.  It was fun, as always, and we had quite a group.  It was with Bo's business partners, Kris and Jake, and their families.  Then both of our parents and Kris's parents too.  Jake's wife, Bonny's grandma, and brother joined us for a day also.

The first day we went to some really neat slot canyons.  It took much longer than we anticipated because a group showing us around drove really slow, but and we got lost a couple of times.  Haha.  But, it was still fun, and the slot canyons were amazing!

The kids all had a blast climbing all over the rocks.  They were fearless and climbed pretty high at times.  I wasn't so sure about that, but they have some great memories.

The next day we went to glitter mountain.  The walls of the mountain glimmered in the sun, and there were crystals all over the ground.  The kids loved it and were able to bring some home.

We also checked out some areas we really enjoyed seeing last year.

Thursday we drove to Overton, Nevada, because the weather in St. George was rainy.  The RZR ride was called Logandale Trails.  It was my favorite spot.  It had some entertaining sandy areas to play in and also some hieroglyphics.  It was pretty neat, and out in the middle of nowhere, there was a green meadow.  A pretty amazing spot.

We also had a fun time swimming and hanging out in the hot tub.  But I was too lazy to take pictures.

We all ate at Pizza Pie Cafe before leaving the next morning.  It's so fun to have kids old enough to sit around a table at a restaurant and have fun without making a mess!  Haha.

 It was another great spring break for the record books.  I'm grateful we can get away with family and friends and make some really great memories.  We are truly blessed to have such great people in our lives.

Karate

Jackson and Brayden have wanted to do Karate for a while now, so we finally decided to dive in.  They weren't sure about it at first, but now they really enjoy it.  We've had to take a break for baseball and summer, but they will be excited to join up again this fall.

School Parties

The boys had to make Valentine's boxes for their parties.  I'll be honest I wasn't excited to have to do three.  But, we had fun making them together, and I think they turned out pretty cute!

Hundred Days Party

Caleb got to dress up like a 100-year-old for the hundredth day of school. He was a pretty cute old man.

Caleb's 6th Birthday

Caleb wanted a Kit Kat cake with gummy bears.

Wow! He's six, and this kid brings so much joy to our home.

We had a family party on the night of Caleb's birthday.  Grandma and Grandpa were able to come, and he got a whole bunch of books.  He had an enjoyable time opening his presents and the videos we took show.

The Monday after, he went to the hot tub at the warehouse and swam with his best friend, Jacob.

Caleb, we just love how much you add to our family.  We're so proud of all you've learned in Kindergarten and can't wait to see all you'll accomplish this next year!  We love you!

China Part 2

My first China post was getting really long.  I really should have just split it into days from the start, but I didn't realize that until I was practically done.  I still wanted to show some of the food we ate and some hilarious translations from Chinese to English, so I just started another post.

We ate a lot of food.  There was always more than we could eat.  They do their meals family-style, and almost every table had a turntable in the middle.  Every meal was Chinese food.  They even had fried rice and noodles for breakfast.  They eat a lot of duck in Beijing, so we had it a few times.

The most interesting thing we ate a couple of times was pigeon.  Yes, the pigeon you've seen out in your yard.  It was actually very juicy and tasty.  It is popular in Canton.  They put the whole thing on your plate, and you eat it starting with the legs.  While we were eating it, we heard a pig whining pretty severely, and Bo jokingly said, "are they killing that pig?"  Come to find out they were.  It was a bit disturbing and took way longer than it should.  But, I guess that's how it's done.

We also ate at the Canton Tower.  If you think the Space Needle is high, imagine at least two and a half stacked on top of each other.  It's 1615 feet tall.  The Space Needle is 605.

We found our favorite dessert for China.  I don't know what they are called, but street vendors sell them all over.  It is fruit on a stick covered with a candy coating.  It was so good.  The hard candy coating was so thin it almost melted immediately when it hit your tongue.  They can only have these in winter because they would melt in the summer.

They also made these with the same candy coating and blew it like glass.  

All in all, the food was delicious.  The only thing that served us that I didn't dare eat was bone soup.  The server said they'd make some bone soup from the duck we ordered.  I assumed it was like a bone brother and thought hmm that sounds kind of good, but when they brought it out, bone was actually ground up in the soup.  Bo tried it and realized that before I did, thankfully. :) :)

Thanks so much to our parents who took turns watching out kids.  It was so nice to leave knowing our kids were in great hands!!!
